We understand that paying for a gym membership can be difficult for many, especially now given the impact of COVID and its ongoing effects on individuals, families, and on the broader economy. We believe that access to healthy activities should be readily available to everyone, regardless of personal circumstances or what’s happening in the world around us, and are committed to helping remove financial barriers to rock climbing at The Overlook.
If you are looking for the health and community benefits that a gym membership provides but you don’t have the financial means to afford the full cost of one, we are now offering $35 per month reduced rate memberships to help alleviate that financial burden. We believe that a person’s financial information is a private matter, and therefore these reduced rate memberships will be offered solely on the honor system. Because of this, abuse of the honor system will limit the availability for those who are truly in need, so we ask that you carefully consider your personal circumstances before you apply.
We are committed to providing 5% of our total membership base as reduced rate membership. This will allow us to expand the number reduced rate memberships available as overall membership increases at the gym. Beginning March 1st, we will open a limited number of reduced rate memberships, and will continue to open more each month thereafter. They will be available on a first come first served basis, and once full we will create a waitlist.
While these membership rates will be valid for one year, these members are not required to fulfill a one year term. At the end of one year, they can either be rolled into one of our traditional rate memberships, or users may reapply if additional assistance is still needed. If at any point your economic situation changes for the better, we ask that you please move to one of our traditional membership options so that the reduced rate membership can be offered to someone in need.
