MICHAEL BLACKMON
Head Coach of Team Overlook is Michael Blackmon. Michael started climbing when he was 11, and has been climbing for well over a decade now.
Throughout his youth he consistently competed on a national level in sport and speed climbing, with a highlight being when he competed at the Pan-American Championship in Chile, in 2012. He was taught to climb by US team Head Coach Claudiu Vidulescu, and National Champion Brad Weaver.
Michael has been coaching for the past 4 years. He discovered a love of helping people reach their goals and get comfortable and strong on the wall.
Climbing has always meant a lot to Michael, and he is so happy to be leading Team Overlook, and helping more youth athletes progress at this amazing sport.
DANNY HARTMAN
Danny is assistant head coach and assistant head route setter here at The Overlook. He is always striving to engage with the community and provide new ways to engage and challenge themselves in our gym.
He’s been involved in the Atlanta climbing community for nearly a decade, and loves helping new climbers find their footing and place on the wall. Most of all he loves pushing the limits of what we consider possible for ourselves. Danny seeks to help others find the same drive and passion for climbing that he found over the years, and get them climbing outside of their comfort zone.
HELEN STEPHENS
Next is Helen Stephens. Helen is a National Champion who started climbing at the age of 5. Her journey started by going out and climbing with her parents where she quickly fell in love with the sport and began competing. At this point she has now been competing on a national level for over a decade. Helen dislikes climbing in cold weather and can always be seen with hand warmers before touching any boulders. She is stoked to be a part of the squad and can’t wait to share her experiences with Team Overlook.
MARCO LONGORIA
Marco started climbing on and off 10 years ago. Since then he has spent his time instructing climbing and working with kids in various outdoor education positions. He loves venturing around, climbing in different parts of the country, and has competed collegiately. Marco loves to boulder both inside and out and is super excited to be a part of Team Overlook!
NICOLE MEYERS
Nicole has a long history of coaching, program creation, and route setting as well as nearly 20 years of climbing experience. During her tenure at Brooklyn Boulders she started two climbing teams in two different cities. She helped design the pathways for introducing kids to climbing team practice, competitions, and designing workouts. She has experience working with national level athletes. As a coach and climbing instructor, Nicole consistently puts the needs and feedback of kids first. She believes the most important part of both roles is to listen, to understand, and to communicate back in the way that person understands. Using these approaches Nicole has inspired participants to continue to love and engage with climbing for many years.
AYDIN ROBERTS
Almost 4 years ago Aydin began climbing in a small gym in Savannah, GA. He grew up in Charlotte, NC and has climbed all throughout areas in the South-Eastern US. He has explored many of the climbing areas in Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. Aydin recently began studying geology over the pandemic and is now a geosciences major at GSU.
RILEY CAMPBELL
Since starting climbing at 15 years old, Riley has gathered over 5 years of outdoor lead and bouldering experience that he wishes to share with the team. Riley grew up in Winter Park, Florida, but found his passion for climbing in the North Georgian forests in places like Panola Mountain and Currahee Mountain. Riley wants to be a farmer and only wears sandals.
MASON RINALDUCCI
From Savannah, Georgia, Mason has been climbing around the Southeast for 4 years.
Mason is an avid outdoorsman and climber who is eager to share his love for rock climbing with the world.
He’s currently attending Georgia State University for Media and Business and is an experienced outdoor climbing guide. He has been leading outdoor climbing trips for over three years, and spends as much time as possible outside and on the wall.
Now as a climbing coach, he hopes to help more people find their passion for this amazing sport, just like he did.
