- It’s FREE!
- Must be 18 yrs old to participate
- Non – members of The Overlook may compete, but will need to purchase a day pass or use a punch pass on their league climbing days.
- Runs for 5 weeks with an ABL after party
- All league questions should be directed to Danny.
- Every participant has the option to purchase a limited edition ABL T-shirt (to be given out around week 3-4) when you register.
- Payment for boulder league T-shirts is taken through our website. You must pre-order by the end of the first week of climbing in order to be guaranteed a T-shirt. We will have some available on a first come first served basis at the end of the league. The hard deadline for registration is the end of the first competitive week at 10PM when the gym closes: October 2.
- Register in teams of 5 (preferred). Individuals can sign up and be assigned a team. All teams need an team captain and a CLEAN team name. We prefer to have teams of 4 so we will try to consolidate teams as much as possible.
- All participants will receive a handicap based on the first 2 weeks of competition. Scoring during the league will be based on improvement, not overall strength.
- League weeks run Thursday to Wednesday, and the first scores will not be released until after the second week of boulder league. The scores for subsequent weeks will be released on Thursdays.
- Final week score will be sent to participants via email and posted on our website following the End of League Party.
- During competition you must have excellent gym etiquette to ensure that other members, guests, and teams are allowed turns on league problems.
- The league is run on the HONOR SYSTEM. Cheaters. Never. Win.
- Team scores will be based on the average of all the individual scores on the team.
- All problems set for league will be in the Pebble app. Mark the climbs that you top in your league session.
- Each participant can only have 1 league session per week (Thurs – Wed) ***please don’t climb on league problems until Thursday***
- Only problems set that week will count for points.
- Teams must compete in groups of 3 to 5 (5 is preferred). Anyone not in a group will be assigned a group. Competitors are highly encouraged to compete together, but may compete individually as well. In the past our most successful teams were the ones climbing together!
- Each competitor must compete and record their scores in a single session. If you are participating in boulder league please avoid climbing on these boulders until you’re ready to have your competition session on them.
- Scoring will be based on your handicap, which is assigned based on your personal maximum sends. If you later begin to exceed your handicap it will be adjusted automatically.
- You’ll get points for each climb logged, but climbs at or above your handicap will be worth significantly more.
- Climbers recieve 100 points for a climb at their handicap level +/- 25 points for each grade range above or below the handicap level. (i.e. if your handicap is V2-4 and you send a V0-2 you recieve 75 points.)
- Your top 6 climbs per week will count for scoring.
- Each competitor will have their lowest competitive week dropped from scoring. This allows you to miss a single week and not have a large effect on final scoring. Each team member can drop a unique week, the team does not need to coordinate the dropped week. If you compete every week your lowest scored week will be dropped.
